The association of pulmonary and critical care medicine program directors (apccmpd) was created to facilitate excellence in clinical and research training in pulmonary and critical care medicine.

Programs

2 programs

Every spring, apccmpd holds the annual spring conference for pulmonary and/or critical care training program directors. Training program directors, associate program directors, and program coordinators are invited to attend this 1.5 day educational event where they learn about new accreditation council for graduate medical education (acgme) requirements for pulmonary, critical care and sleepmedicine training programs; innovative methods of teaching medical education; tools and services to facilitate training programs; and legal issues related to medical training, among other topics.

The apccmpd offers two annual abstract awards:1. Apccmpd research in medical education award- recognizes pulmonary and critical care medicine training program directors, associate program directors, key clinical faculty or fellows-in-training for their outstanding contributions and commitment to medical education research.2. Darlene buczak award for educational excellence the darlene buczak award for educational excellence recognizes pulmonary and critical care medicine training program directors for their outstanding contributions and commitment to medical education and training.to be eligible to compete, applicants must submit an abstract describing asuccessful innovative educational method they have applied to their trainingprograms. The board of apccmpd reviews the applications and selects one recipientto receive a $500 stipend and complimentary registration and travel (hotel and airfare) to the annual spring training program directors conference where therecipient presents his or her innovative educational/training approach.3. The apccmpd honors an exemplary clinician educator through its outstandingeducator award and emerging educator award. Pccm, ccm, and pulmonaryfellowship programs may nominate an educator within the p/ccm field for theseprestigious awards.4. The apccmpd provides an education research award (aera), a $25,000 grant, that isgiven out every other year to fund projects that further the field of pulmonaryand critical care medicine fellow training.
