Asb helps organize the annual spring wildflower pilgrimage in the great smoky mountains national park in gatlinburg, tn. This 4 day educational outreach usually has about 165 programs, 80 volunteer leaders, and 900 participants. Swfp activities include the spring pilgrimage held in april. Revenue comes from registration fees. Expenses include facilities and activities cost, meeting planner and vendors that provide meeting support.

Asb provides a number of awards presented at the annual meeting. These include the meritorious teaching award, asb research award, and asb student research award. A silent auction fundraising event at the meeting supports some of the award costs.
