The association of state and tribal home visiting initiatives is member-driven and dedicated to supporting members in the effective implementation and improvement of home visiting programs at the state, territory and tribal level.

When asthvi worked with member administrators of home visiting programs and with colleague administrators in child welfare agencies to understand and document the misalignment between financing and contracting structures in the two systems that create barriers to using family first prevention services act (ffpsa) funds to expand access to voluntary home visiting for families involved with child welfare, asthvi held multiple national conversations; developed and disseminated a survey of state home visiting and child welfare officials; and conducted individual interviews with officials from states considered to be at the forefront of expanding home visiting services under ffpsa.in 2024 asthvi used data collected from states throughout 023 to prepare, design, publish, circulate, and share information in a white paper.

Asthvi convenes and facilitates standing committees and limited time work groups that allow members to ask questions and exchange information of significance regarding the implementation of home visiting programs in their state or tribe, providing and opportunity for peer-to-peer support and professional development. These committees and work groups also develop comments in response to requests for feedback from the administration for children and families; the health resources and services administration; the office of planning, research, and evaluation; and other federal agencies.
