Mission

The los altos history museum gathers and presents artifacts and stories to bridge the past and the present by fostering the creative energy of volunteers and staff to produce engaging educational programs and exhibits that challenge established narratives.

Programs

2 programs

Collection carelos altos history museum processed 38 donations of items during this fiscal year, including adding items to our library, photography collection, oral histories and 3-d artifact collection. We prepared oral histories for publication on our website by creating indexes, abstracts, and search terms, as well as reviewing all of our existing 200 oral histories.

Educational outreach los altos history museum held two family-friendly community events during the year: the apricot stem fair on july 1, 2023 which provided stem activities related to climate resilience, and the train days on september 16 and 17, 2023, offering train lovers the immersive experience of model railroading and honoring our local history as a train stop in the past. On may 16, 2024, we offered a program gathering ideas from the community about how to shape the 2024 apricot harvest at the los altos heritage orchard. In spring 2024, our education committee led 3rd and 4th grade educational tours enabling the local students to step into california and los altos history.
