Mission
Athenspets is an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to helping the most vulnerable animals in the Athens (GA) area and the people who love them.
Programs
2 programs
Shelter Animal Support: Athenspets supported the animals at Athens-Clarke County Animal Services (ACCAS) by paying (1) boarding, training, sponsorship, and transport expenses (including the training expenses for Project Homebound, ACC's Prison Dog Training Program); (2) extraordinary medical expenses; and (3) the cost of shelter supplies, like blankets, medications, and other similar supplies, for the care and comfort of the impounded animals. These services and supplies make the animals more adoptable and decrease their suffering while at the shelter, and make possible transferring shelter animals to rescue groups.
Community Support: Athenspets (1) paid for veterinary care for 30 owned animals needed to alleviate suffering and keep them in good, even if impoverished, homes, (2) purchased food for the community pet food pantry as needed, and (3) supplied vaccines as needed for PopUp Vet Care clinics.
