Mission
To support writers in their craft. The Atlanta Writers Club provides educational opportunities, conferences, meetups and other group activities to ensure that writers of all genres have the resources they need to be successful in their efforts.
Programs
5 programs
Spring and Fall Writers Conferences providing workshops, manuscript and query letter critiques, editor and agent interactions and pitch opportunities. Approximately 250 writers, editors, agents and others attend each conference. The Atlanta Self-Publishing Conference is held in the Spring and teaches writers how to publish and promote their own work. This conference attracts 130 attendees.
Workshops and Retreats during the year covering topics of interest to writers. These included character and plot development, getting your work published and how to manage your social media. Attendance averages 50 writers per workshop.
The Annual AWC Writers Contest makes awards in three categories: Fiction, Non-Fiction and Poetry. Three independent judges are paid to review submitted manuscripts. No entrance fee is charged. Approximately 80 writers enter this contest each year.
Atlanta Writers Club supports Book Festivals in Atlanta and Decatur
The Townsend Award celebrates the best new author in Georgia and is held every other ear.
