Attack poverty's disaster recovery program plays a vital role in helping communities receive and rebuild after crises. In the face of natural disasters, economic setbacks, or other challenges, our team responds quickly with immediate assistance, such as food, water, and emergency supplies. We offer resources and support to rebuild infrastructure, restore local services, and strengthen neighborhood resilience. Beyond short-term relief, we focus on long-term community revitalization through ongoing home repairs, community revitalization projects and equipping community members for resiliency before disaster strikes.

MERCY GOODS IS A SOCIAL ENTERPRISE WITH A COMPELLING MISSION THAT EXTENDS FAR BEYOND RETAIL. AT ITS HEART, MERCY GOODS PROVIDES EQUITABLE EMPLOYMENT, INVALUABLE JOB TRAINING, AND MEANINGFUL MENTORSHIP OPPORTUNITIES SPECIFICALLY FOR AT-RISK YOUTH IN THE AREA. THE ORGANIZATION ACHIEVES ITS MISSION THROUGH THE THOUGHTFUL DESIGN AND EXPERT CONSTRUCTION OF CUSTOM FURNITURE AND AN ARRAY OF OTHER HANDCRAFTED HOME GOODS. THESE ITEMS, WHICH INCLUDE A VARIETY OF CANDLES AND A SELECTION OF T-SHIRTS, ARE NOT JUST PRODUCTS BUT TOOLS FOR TRANSFORMATION. BY INVOLVING STUDENTS IN EVERY STEP OF THE PROCESS, FROM INITIAL JOB SITE MEASUREMENTS AND COST ESTIMATIONS TO MATERIAL PURCHASING AND DIRECT CUSTOMER SERVICE, MERCY GOODS INSTILLS CRUCIAL PROBLEM-SOLVING ABILITIES, CULTIVATES ATTENTION TO DETAIL, AND BUILDS CONFIDENCE IN THEIR YOUNG EMPLOYEES. THE RETAIL SPACE SERVES NOT ONLY AS A PLATFORM TO SELL THESE GOODS BUT ALSO AS A SUPPORTIVE AND SAFE ENVIRONMENT FOR LEARNING AND SKILL DEVELOPMENT, ULTIMATELY GUIDING THESE STUDENTS TOWARD PROMISING FUTURE CAREER PATHS. LINE 4D - OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES --------------------------------- Flourishment, India, Uganda: We believe that families must have the opportunity to flourish to see sustainable community development take place. The Flourishment Program was developed as an umbrella program that connects and streamlines Attack Poverty's work including community programs, resource centers, housing services, emergency shelters, food distributions, disaster recovery & preparedness, home repair, workplace & skill development, and social enterprise. These all act as support systems to the overall Flourishment Program. The Flourishment Program's main goal is to empower and equip individuals and families in under-resourced communities with the tools and resources (physical, spiritual, mental, and emotional) they need to break the cycle of generational poverty and flourish on their own. Instead of moving community members through isolated pre-established programs, individuals can meet with a Flourishment Specialist to establish short and long-term goals and receive support as they break down the barriers they are facing. These goals are used to develop a streamlined action plan that connects individuals to resources and provides a roadmap to navigate Attack Poverty programs. Furthermore, the Flourishment Specialist will help participants discover and understand their skills, gifts, and passions in a way that allows them to apply those in a fulfilling way. This includes but is not limited to; assisting families in meeting their basic needs; achieving economic self-sufficiency; maintaining stability in housing, employment, and finances; increasing health and safety; and accessing education and skill development. We have developed research-based models, frameworks, and strategies to ensure we walk alongside a family in a holistic and empowering way. Through our international partnerships we fund services provided in Rushere and Bukomero, Uganda and India. Rushere Christian High School, which serves students in S1-S4, aims to transform generations through holistic, Christ-centered education. This year, all 121 of their students passed their annual exams. Their partner, managing Mt. Olives Primary School, faced severe flooding in November, but with Rushere's support, they quickly set up temporary classrooms, enabling the elementary school to complete the year. By February 2024, Mt. Olives Primary School successfully relocated to higher ground and now has over 200 students, increasing parental confidence. Recovery Christian Academy (Bukomero) provides Nursery, Pre-K, K, P1, P2, P3, and P4 classes for 137 children. February was a month of celebration for our international partners. Since our primary focus in Uganda is on education and rural school development, the new school year begins in February. In Bukomero, our partner made a significant advancement by adding a Primary 4 class to the school. They mobilized local resources to build a temporary classroom for the growing number of Primary 3 students advancing from the previous year. This achievement marked a notable success in their ongoing efforts to support and expand educational opportunities. House of Love Orphanage (India) is managed by Living Stone Ministry who provides children who are orphaned shelter, food, clothes, and education, leading them to holistic development. They aim to develop children who are strong in spirit and serve the Lord as He desires them to serve His kingdom. There is a total of 66 children (boys and girls and young adults), ages 6 to 21. In August, heavy rain collapsed the outdoor kitchen at House of Love, increasing cooking costs significantly. Construction on a new kitchen started in September but faced delays and budget increases from $4,000 to $7,000 due to a site relocation. Attack Poverty helped fund the project, completing the roof in January, and the kitchen opened in March, serving 66 children and 13 staff. Additionally, with support from Attack Poverty, our partner in India was able to pay 50% of staff salaries for the first time, recognizing their years of volunteer dedication to the 66 children.
