Programs
3 programs
Day program: aei's day habilitation programs offer medical, therapeutic and developmental support that promotes the ability of individuals with developmental disabilities to live more independently in everyday community settings. Aei's community based day supports (cbds) program emphasizes community integration, development of life skills, social and recreational activities, as well as opportunities for volunteer work. Group and individual trainings focus on self-confidence and self-reliance, with the goal of assisting participants in becoming contributing and valued members of their communities.
Family supports: aei's family supports program offers safe, homelike settings in which individuals referred by the department of developmental services (dds) learn the skills necessary to live more independently. Located throughout southeastern massachusetts (attleboro to cape cod), aei's residential program specializes in serving dually diagnosed individuals, particularly the mr/mh population.
Redemption centers: aei operates two redemption centers (the centers) that function as transitional work sites in which individuals are assessed in an array of job functions while maintaining the centers as viable businesses. The centers generate income by refunding deposits on returnable bottles and cans brought in by the general public and having workers recycle the bottles and cans which are then shipped back to distributors and/or their handling agencies. The centers also arrange the pick-up of bottles and cans from fundraising events operated by organizations such as the boy scouts and church groups. Both centers are licensed by the department of environmental protection and operate under regulations established by the massachusetts bottle bill.
