The principle purpose of the australian broadcasting corporation (abc) is the provision of quality, informative, educational and cultural programming including the promotion of music and the performing arts. It accomplishes its exempt functions by providing television, radio and online content. The australian broadcasting corporation's charter is contained within part ii, section 6 of the australian broadcasting corporation act (1983)(abc act).
