Deputy Sheriff Christopher Johnson, a dedicated School Resource Officer with the Harnett County Sheriff's Office, tragically lost his life in a vehicular accident on February 6, 2024, while on his way home from duty. Deputy Johnson served with integrity, dedicating 16 years to the Sampson County Sheriff's Office and nine years to the Dunn Police Department before joining Harnett County 16 months prior to his passing. He is survived by his wife of 27 years, four children, and his father. In support of his family, Back The Blue NC presented his widow with $10,600 and memorial plaques honoring his service at a special event held on March 25, 2024, at the Harnett County Sheriff's Office.
The North Carolina Troopers Association (NCTA) Caisson Unit is a distinguished group dedicated to honoring fallen law enforcement officers, first responders, and dignitaries through solemn funeral services. Established in 2008, the unit provides horse-drawn funeral processions, a tradition that symbolizes respect and gratitude for the deceased's service. Members with Back The Blue NC, Inc. have attended numerous funerals in North Carolina where the Caisson Unit has provided their services for Fallen Officers we have also remembered, and for the families we have also assisted. On November 07, 2023 an in-kind donation of $450 was made to help them continue their mission.
