Mission

Bhrc mobilizes community members for the health, dignity, and safety of people targeted by the war on drugs and anti sex-worker policies. We advocate for harm reduction as part of a broader movement for social justice.

Programs

1 program

Community engagement:bhrc advocates for anti-carceral approaches to drug use and sex work by working with state and local legislators in an educational capacity. We are also the organizers of the bridges coalition for overdose prevention sites, which has been working with baltimore city officials to establish an overdose prevention site (ops) in the city. Finally, bhrc is a leading harm reduction organization that provides comprehensive training and educational opportunities in an effort to ground all relevant community, mutual aid, and public health responses in a harm reduction framework. We combat the stigmas surrounding drug use and sex work by humanizing individuals impacted by systemic challenges, sharing evidence-based strategies that improve health outcomes, community safety, and reduce healthcare costs, and offering trainings on harm reduction philosophy, drug policy history, overdose prevention, and practical intervention skills.
