Leadership Development Growth: BJLIs leadership development program expanded by onboarding three new campuses and partnering with key organizations, including the Lawyers Committee for Civil Rights Under Law, Houston Lawyers Association, and the Peoples Legal Clinic.
Advocacy: Legislative Impact: Played a pivotal role in the Texas Legislative Session, successfully advocating for legislation that extended Medicaid coverage for postpartum women from 60 days to 12 months, addressing a critical health equity need. Texas Fibroid Awareness Month Expansion: The TXFAM self-care fairs expanded to five cities (Beaumont, Tyler, Fort Worth, Houston, and Dallas), reaching 24,378 community members with no-cost health screenings, educational resources, and support for Black-owned and women-owned small businesses.
