Mission
Barrier breakers has a mission to increase access to and success in higher education for first-generation and other marginalized students. Barrier breakers specializes in working with first-generation, minority, and immigrant students on the college and law school application process. To date, barrier breakers has helped over 7,000 students receive more than $490m in scholarships.
Programs

Provide high touch law school admissions advising to students of all backgrounds, races, and income levels from former admissions deans, directors, and professional writers. We provide 1:1 high-touch packages, small group boot camps and a la carte essay editing and online courses. Our services are heavily discounted (and often free) for lsac fee-waiver students.
We host nationwide and virtual conferences for aspiring first-generation students, podcasts that demystify the admissions process, workshops and webinars with admissions deans and employers in various fields, tabling events at local fairs and conferences to meet students, and information sessions in conjunction with colleges and universities. We also provide free guides and workbooks, online courses, tips through social media, and email newsletters with scholarship information.
Through our outreach & wellness program, students receive ongoing mentorship throughout college and graduate school, ensuring they persist through graduation and successfully transition into careers. We provide:- wellness checks every semester to support academic and personal well-being.- guidance with resumes, cover letters, and internship search.- a supportive peer community of first-generation students.- regional meet-ups with students in their local community.
