The price center empowers individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities to thrive in their living, social and work communities.
Programs
6 programs
Day habilitation program offers developmental skills training which focuses on improving communication skills, attention span, behavior management and functional everyday skills, while incorporating community integration and choice making within each individual's schedule. The program served 53 clients during the year.
Intensive day program provides adults with complex medical needs and profound disabilities with individualized programs which include physical and communication therapies, with a goal to increase independence. The program served 40 clients during the year.
Employment services program matches qualified workers with developmental disabilities with jobs in the greater newton area. Supported by staff, individuals learn to work in a competitive environment, side by side with fellow workers. Workers develop their skills while becoming acclimated to the expectations of competitive work. The program served 33 clients during the year.the community-based day program's goal is to achieve full social inclusion for people with disabilities regardless of the level of support they need and to ensure they receive fair and equal access to community resources. The program brings together agencies, businesses, and caring individuals in the community to create strong, dependable networks of support. The program served 41 clients during the year.
The specialized supports program serves adults with developmental and intellectual disabilities, including autism. Participants in this program may be non-verbal or may have other difficulty with verbal communication. The program served 29 clients during the year.
The price center oversees three apartments at 234 central street, in auburndale ma. These are congregate #689 affordable housing units through the newton housing authority. The price center provides case management services to each tenant. The program served 3 clients during the year.
Ascent program (afternoon social club encouraging networking and transitions) is an afternoon program for teens and young adults, which provides structured activities promoting independence and self-reliance. The young adults participate in activities that foster social and cultural awareness and personal growth to assist them to overcome the challenges of youth and their disabilities. The program is both community and center based. This program is currently on hold.
