Mission
The Baxter's Pond Foundation is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization whose mission is to assist Nassau County in maintaining, beautifying and improving Baxter's Pond and the area immediately surrounding it in the Barbara Johnson Park and Preserve. As a natural watershed, the head of the pond acts as a sedimentation basin to collect waste and debris from passing into Long Island Sound - by maintaining the pond and surrounding park, Baxter's Pond Foundation serves an essential role in reducing the level of pollution (e.g., lawn pesticides, overflowing trashcans, and plastics) from contaminating our water ways.
