Harvest Moon Regatta amateur sailing race which generated significant local and national attention to the recreational use of Galveston and Corpus Christi Bays as well as the Gulf of Mexico between Galveston and Port Aransas, Texas. Participating were 75 boats, 435 sailors, and an estimated 150 volunteers.

Seven amateur sailing races held throughout the year drawing attention to the recreational benefit of Galveston and Trinity Bays. The races drew a total of 176 boats and an estimated 860 sailors. Volunteers averaged 20 per race.
