To end the epidemic of homelessness in los angeles by unlocking the power of the community.

The short-term eviction prevention (step) fund initially began operations in 2022 as a pilot program and has since grown to become a signature program of the prevention pillar. In 2024 alone, the step fund issued 306 interest-free loans totaling approximately $656,000.

As part of the shelter pillar, the organization began developing a comprehensive interim housing database for la county and a companion mobile application for first responders, case workers and homeless individuals. These projects are the foundation for a broader plan to support improved accessibility and efficiency for shelter operators.

Through the services pillar, in addition to supporting numerous community events serving neighbors experiencing homelessness, better angels hosted 40 resource days in neighborhoods throughout los angeles, providing safe, one-stop access to essential services for people experiencing homelessness. Guests received support ranging from clothing, hygiene supplies, and food to identification services, housing navigation, showers, mobile phones, and medical care, while building connections with service providers and community partners.

The housing pillar focused on developing a new approach to building affordable housing faster, better and more cost effectively. This work led to the establishment of the better angels affordable housing fund.
