Advancing shared knowledge: the bhc foundation's primary exempt purpose is to collect, aggregate, analyze and publish information on the region's health care industry with a goal of expanding knowledge of key trends and spurring stronger individual and collective action toward improvements in the safety, quality, equity and affordability of health care. Information and reports are distributed to key stakeholders and the public at large, through a variety of venues, thereby increasing the shared understanding of local health and health care indicators and improvement opportunities. This includes an annual health industry overview and consumer guides on choosing health care.

Representing purchasers and the public: the organization brings the purchaser perspective to conversations locally and nationally, such as in local forums, the national quality forum, national alliance, network for regional healthcare improvement, and other health related non-profits.
