B-pep jazz - since 2006, to raise awareness of the organization and its programs, the black political empowerment project has hosted b-pep jazz, a six-hour jazz marathon which features many of pittsburghs very best musicians and vocalists. The proceeds of this event to help underwrite our varied community services and projects such as the greater pittsburgh coalition against violence (cav), which include the anti-violence youth summits, our non-partisan civic engagement work, the corporate equity & inclusion roundtable (ceir), as well as other community focused efforts.
Corporate equity and inclusion roundtable - we seek breakthroughs in diversity, equity and inclusion
Unity festival - community festival to bring everyone together, networking, etc.
Coalition against violence - we seek the ending of violence in our homes, schools and our communities
Youth summit - b-peps activities, while primarily focused on advocating that african americans become fully engaged in the political process through voting, align with the missions of many diverse groups and constituencies, around pittsburgh and throughout allegheny county. Current activities, spurred by the cav document, are addressing the issue of violence in the pittsburgh and surrounding school districts. These youth summits empower youth leaders in middle and high school, to face the issues of violence and bullying, develop their own strategies for change and positive impact.
