Housing services: we utilized an extensive portfolio of diverse housing opportunities for veterans and marginalized new yorkers, efficiently managing several housing components of supportive housing (with 10 shelter service locations, and permanent services at uzima residence, wazobia house, and resurrection homes) for chronically homeless veterans, veterans with substance abuse and/or mental illness, female veterans with children, persons living with hiv/aids, chronically homeless adult men and women as well as veterans and their families. Our supportive housing program (shp) provided ongoing rental assistance to adults with special focus on veterans and families from all five boroughs in new york city, adults experiencing homelessness, prisons and psychiatric centers with mental disabilities who meet the program criteria. The organization paid 70% of the rent, while consumers paid the remaining 30% monthly. The shp team collectively assisted in ensuring tenants had wrap-around service which includes housing, therapist, medication, adult care program, home health aide, na/aa meeting (if needed), pantry bag, money management training, and access to staff on a 24 hour emergency number.
