Residential training, an option for persons enrolled full time in the Adjustment to Blindness and Post-secondary Readiness & Empowerment (PREP) programs, provides experience living independently, peer support, and on-site training in home management skills.
The Buddy Program teaches children ages 9 to 13 that being blind is OK and they can have as much fun as anybody else. PREP is a summer program benefiting high school and college students. It teaches teenagers to learn the skills they need to keep up with their peers and prepares them to attend college or join the workforce. Transition: Employment, Advocacy, Mentoring and Skills (TEAMS) is a transition program for blind high school students ages 14 to 21. It provides students with instruction in the skills of blindness to enable them to reach their personal, academic and scholastic goals. Students work with successful blind, adult role models while interacting with blind peers in educational, recreational and social settings. The Transition Trail Outreach Program is designed to reach students and families who reside outside the metro area by bringing transition themed programming to different areas in the state. Students, families and professionals are welcome to join our mobile learning community as we provide hands-on transition instruction and activities designed to increase student independence and enhance self-confidence.
