Books For Collier Kids Inc

Books for collier kids (bck) works closely with a variety of more than 20 local non-profit agencies to ensure that children in need have books to take home, share and cherish. Bck works with habitat for humanity to provide 15+ age-appropriate books to over 100 home dedications each year. Bck works with boys & girls club, the shelter for abused women, fostering success, formerly friends of foster children forever, guadalupe center, grace place and many others to support their reading programs, provide respite and security. In 2023/2024, nearly 10,000 books were distributed via partners.

Summer slide occurs when children don't read over the summer and the fact that students who are not actively reading over the summer experience significant, cumulative reading skill loss. This loss especially affects children from low-income homes. In the 2023 summer, books for collier kids donated 16,500 new books to numerous summer programs such as boys & girls club, manatee and park side elementary schools, grace place and salvation army.
