Boston policy institute (bpi) engages in the following activities: indepth public policy research and analysis on issues facing the commonwealth of massachusetts and the city of boston; monitor & report on public meetings & hearings held by the city or significant importance to the public policy issues that bpi is focused on; publicize bpi's work through public events, bpi's website and social media pages, and through pitching work to press.

2.monitoring & reporting on public actions: bpi monitors and reports on public meetings and hearings held by the city of boston and any state legislative or bureaucratic hearings or meetings of significant importance to the public policy issues that bpi is focused on. These activities will be conducted by bpi's staff, contractors, and volunteers in the city of boston and throughout massachusetts. These activities further our exempt purpose of promoting the social welfare by ensuring that the people of massachusetts are aware of the decisions that are made by their elected officials and agency officials and the how of those decisions impact their lives.

Expenses: $45K

3.public policy education: bpi's public policy research, analysis, and monitoring will be presented at public events and through bpi's website and social media pages. The research and results of monitoring will also be pitched to the press through press releases, op-eds, and by making bpi staff and authors of the research available for comment and interviews. The research and events featuring the authors or research findings, will be promoted through paid advertisements in newspapers and digital media. These activities will be conducted by bpi's staff, contractors, and volunteers in the city of boston and throughout massachusetts. Funding for these activities comes from individual donations, and accounts for approximately 35 percent of time allocated and 50 percent of program budget. These activities further our exempt purpose of promoting the social welfare by providing the public with educational resources so they understand the policy solutions facing the state and city.
