Brandywine Ballet Co

Sleeping beauty - this beautiful ballet tells the story of princess aurora who was born to the king and queen of a magical fairytale kingdom. A wicked fairy curses aurora at her christening and promises that she will prick her finger on a spindle and die. The lilac fairy comes to the aid of the royal family and uses her magic to alter the wicked carabosse's spell. Aurora is now destined to fall into a deep sleep only to be awoken by true love's kiss. A century later, with the help of the lilac fairy, a prince seeks to wake aurora from this sleep and lift the spell. A magical story awaits audiences who embark on this adventure.

Fall repertoire - includes three performances - carmina burana, gabriele concertante, and brandywine contemporary. Carmina burana, choreographed by nancy page and set to composer carl orff's masterpiece of the same name, is a tale of life, fortune, & fate. Dedicated to norman gabriele, longtime friend and colleague of choreographer david kloss, gabriele concertante is a ballet in three movements set to the music of sir eric coates. Gabriele concertante is full of intricate pattern changes in the first and third movements with a romantic and elegant adagio in the second. All three sections bring a sense of regalness and beauty to the stage. A work set for brandywine contemporary by tim early will also be on the program.
