Mission
Our mission is to feed brazoria county's hungry through food distribution, education, collaboration, and advocacy. Brazosport cares continues to lead the fight against hunger in brazoria county by operating a community-supported food pantry, weekend backpack program and school food pantry for local students, home delivery program for home-bound seniors, and education initiatives.
Programs
3 programs
Brazosport cares partnered with brazosport independent school district to 1) provide weekend back packs full of enough food to last until monday morning for homeless and chronically hungry students who would otherwise go home to little or no meals on weekends and holidays; and 2) operate school markets at intermediate and high school campuses for students and their households to access during and after the school day.
The healthy options program for the elderly (hope) provides monthly supplemental food tailored to improve the health and nutrition of low-income homebound seniors. Groceries delivered by volunteers include dairy, grains, protein, fresh fruits and vegetables, canned goods, and personal care items.
Brazosport cares hosts free farmers markets in partnership with the houston food bank to bring nutritious fresh fruits and vegetables to communities west of the brazos river.
