"i choose me" is a substance misuse prevention initiative we use based on positive youth development. The initiave is focused on positive choices and activities as an alternative to substance misuse. We have youth programs based in this initiative at several locations throughout the county. Our programs through the programs include vocational training, music workshops, nutrition education, athletics, communication skills, creative arts, building resiliency, school-based, strategies, law enforcement engagement, and presentations.
"better without it" is an initiative we use that is uniquely designed for teens and young adults. It is also based on positive youth development and empowers youths to realize that they are better without substance misuse. We utilize this inititiave in our youth leadership groups, our youth-led substance misuse prevention coalitions, and at the counties sole dropout prevention school. In addition, we oversee and operate the sole school diversion program for the local school district which uses a group counseling and family-centered early intervention model to help youths caught for the first time using or in possession of drugs and/or prohibitted substances.
