Mission

To serve as the developer and community stewards in transforming an abandoned rail line embankment into a linear park

Programs

3 programs

Linear Park Development The Bronzeville Trail Task Force, Inc. (BTTF) engages community stakeholders in providing the Bronzeville community a recreational asset that celebrates its history, supports its wellness, and deepens its connectivity to serve a community of all ages and and abilities. This program engages a wide range of community stakeholders to determine the proposed trail feasibility and its remediation. At present, the embankment is contaminated and is an environmental health hazzard. Upon completion, the trail will become a significant transportation hub connecting communitites west of the Interstate 94 and the near southside of Chicago to the 28 mile lakefront bike trail.

Bronzeville Trail History Project The Bronzeville Trail History Project will research, examine, instruct, and publicize the role African Americans played in Chicagos world renowned meat processing industry. The Kenwood L Line embankment is remnant of the Chicago Union Stock Yard Line and has significant ties to the Great Black Migration.
