Mission

The buffalo neighborhood stabilization corporation (bnsc) is push's nonprofit housing development corporation, specializing in managing affordable rental units, land banking, property stabilization, green infrastructure, landscape management, and community planning. Bnsc strives to decrease the rate of housing abandonment by reclaiming empty houses from neglectful owners and redeveloping them for occupancy by low-income residents.

Community developmentbnsc conducts community development activities which include land banking, property stabilization, green infrastructure, landscape management and community planning purposes. For future development projects, bnsc acquires and holds properties. Bnsc also acquires and holds vacant lots for neighborhood stabilization purposes. Many of these vacant lots serve as demonstration projects such as community gardens (bnsc manages close to 50 community plots in two gardens) and rain gardens to address storm water management. Bnsc's landscape management department includes a work yard for equipment, tools and supplies storage, a greenhouse and a nursery garden for use in stormwater management and vacant lot management.

Housing developmentpush has developed an innovative program with documented effectiveness to acquire and rehabilitate residential housing and vacant land in buffalo. The program has accomplished renovations of multiple units. Push also integrates "green" development into each of its development projects, installation of green infrastructure such as on-demand water heaters, radiant floor heating, solar panels, and geothermal heating systems. In 2024 49 units across 14 sites were put into service.
