Lgbt health workforce conference (lgbt hwc) - the lgbt health workforce conference is the largest and most well known national lgbt health workforce conference in the united states held annually in new york city. The conference provides an overview of up-to-date practices (climate, educational, research, and clinical) in preparing the health care workforce to address the health concerns and disparities of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (lgbt) communities. This conference is designed for health professionals (m.d., d.o., p.a.-c., r.n., n.p., pharm.d., d.d., ph.d., ed.d., public health practitioners, social workers, psychologists, etc.), researchers, educators, administrators, and students (pre-health professions, professional schools, and graduate), but all interested are invited to attend. During the 2024 conference, we received over one hundred-fifty registrants for this three day conference which includes several awards and research presentations.
General programs - general programs include regional seminars that are open to all healthcare workers/affiliates but are tailored to encourage trainees (medical students, residents, phds) who are underrepresented in medicine (women, lgbtq, and racial and ethnic minorities) to consider academic medicine careers. These seminars are designed to teach learners the array of academic medicine career paths and opportunities and also to develop and enhance their academic medicine portfolio. Over ther 2024 year we have conducted several virtual and in person seminars at unique medical centers.
Other programs - outreach, medical education conference, national pre-faculty conference.
