The foundation is a non-profit corporation established for the purpose of enhancing, preserving, and protecting the local ecological system of the butternut-franklin lakes area through funding projects such as fish stocking, lake studies, and other efforts to enhance flora and fauna, developing and presenting educational and informational programs on ecological and other issues that affect the lakes area, and providing input and support to governmental units when these agencies have an impact on the area.
