RESETTLEMENT: CRIC's resettlement program works with newly arriving refugees placed by the State Department to help them settle and integrate into their new life in the U.S. Also known as reception and placement, CRIC administers this program as an official resettlement affiliate of the international nonprofit organization, Church World Services. Associated funding through the state of Utah provides capacity for required health screenings during the first 90 days of each arrivals' time in the U.S. as well as other health promotion activities. Our responsibilities include administering case-specific direct assistance funding to secure and set-up housing in advance of case arrivals, coordinating airport arrivals and school enrollments, navigating paperwork, scheduling medical appointments, providing cultural orientations, and more.
EDUCATIONAL AND OTHER PROGRAMMING: CRIC offers a set of educational programming including a financial literacy course as well as tutoring preparation for the written driver's license test and the U.S. citizenship test. During the fiscal year the program also wrapped up a small-business advising program, which supported new small businesses in local refugee and immigrant communities. In addition, CRIC partners with many other local nonprofits to provide referrals, community engagement, and information to support programming enhancements that allow partner organizations to more effectively serve a wider client base.
