Mission

We calibrate: we transform and elevate the lives of tomorrow's leaders from under-resourced communities, particularly the descendants of american slavery, by providing spaces where they experience their best selves, feel valued for the potential they bring to the world, and prepare to reinvest their time and talents back into their communities.

Programs

2 programs

Community engagement: we are community-builders; we provide connections to adults touching our students' lives at our program locations. Parents, teachers, volunteers participate in connections, so that they have a shared culture and vocabulary with youth we collectively serve. We also partner with other nonprofits to provide robust enrichment for our youth.

Expenses: $30K

Training: we provide mentorship and paid training and opportunities for our connections alumni and community members to reinvest in their communities by delivering connections programming and running calibrate's operations. Since 2019, 150+ persons have been trained. 97% of calibrate's staff and 75% of our board have shared lived experiences with youth we serve. Alumni report that calibrate has inspired them to pursue post-secondary degrees, seek meaningful work, and use connections as a wellness and conflict-resolution practice with family, friends, and colleagues.
