California Alliance of Caregivers represents the voices of relative and non-relative caregivers to promote the well-being of children in foster care. California Alliance of Caregivers provides training information support and advocacy for foster kinship guardian and adoptive families.

Programs

California Alliance of Caregivers virtual Family Resource Center served families with trauma-informed parent education Textured Hair Care training and products for youth connection to benefits Calm Kits parent appreciation events holiday gifts backpacks and weekly virtual parent support groups. 9-12 hours of training are offered to parents and caregivers each month. The Foster Care Rates Clinic served families who needed support accessing benefits for their youth; and or learning about and accessing due process information. Calm Kits are given to parents caregivers and youth to teach de-escalation and self-regulation. Over 600 calm kits were made by youth and families.

California Alliance of Caregivers Ambassadors is a statewide coalition of caregiver leaders that conducted implementation and system improvement activities; and outreach and engagement with caregivers to collect and share information. This program also includes local regional and statewide training. This leadership coalition of 50 leaders represents 40 counties around the state. They help to gather and share information with caregivers and partner with agencies to assist with implementation and program improvement. They attend 2-3 meetings month. In addition an annual Resource Family Liaison Conference is held for 100 caregiver support staff members from 39 counties to share best practices in support Resource Parents.

Caregiver Day at the Capitol is a policymaker education day. This program includes the gathering of stakeholder input during policy meetings and leadership meetings throughout the year to create a list of priority issues for caregivers that is published in a Caregiver Policy Agenda. Nearly 100 caregivers attended this event and held 80 meetings with legislative offices.

Coffee with Caregivers is a weekly online support group for Foster Kinship Guardian and Adoptive Families. This weekly virtual peer to peer support group connects families to information support benefits and advocacy and provided over 900 hours of caregiver training.
