The organization's mission is to provide a forum for california employers to express viewpoints on issues affecting the work environment. Members receive up-to-date information concerning recently decided california court cases and legislation proposed and enacted relating to the impact on employers and their employees.

Because the summer educational program was virtual via webex, there were no expenses or income. The program was given on june 11, 2024. It was attended by many celc member companies, as well as invited guests.approximate number of attendees on june 11, 2024: 130 personstopics: (1) lawful diversity, equity and inclusion programs after the scotus affirmtive action decision. This program was presented by partners of the littler law firm; (2) paga litigation -- avoidance and defense strategies. This program was presented by partners of the constangy, brooks, smith & prophete, llp law firm.

Because the quarterly board meetings were virtual via zoom, there were no expenses or income. The meetings occurred on the following dates and lasted 3-4 hours. Each had approximate attendance as listed below:approximate number of attendees on january 24, 2024: 76 persons. Guest speakers' topic: effective techniques for mediating employee litigation; how to select mediators; comparison of in-person versus remote mediations; negotiation strategies; and use of mediator's proposals.approximate number of attendees on april 24, 2024: 92 persons. Guest speaker's topic: focus on u.s. Dept. Of labor's 2024 rule regarding independent contractor classification. Also, examination of importance of proper worker classification and the consequences of misclassification.approximate number of attendees on august 7, 2024: 72 persons. Guest speaker's topic: overview of paga reform.
