Dissolution-----------On July 2, 2024, the Societys Board of Directors voted to dissolve California Historical Society. On July 8, 2024, the Society entered into an Asset Transfer Agreement (the Agreement) with The Board of Trustees of the Leland Stanford Junior University (Stanford). Under the terms of this Agreement, the Society will transfer all of its assets, including cash, various books and records, collections, library and archival materials, fine arts, artifacts, and any other objects, as well as the Societys intellectual and intangible properties. All assets transferred will be used by Stanford in a manner consistent with the Societys exempt purpose to inspire and empower people to make Californias richly diverse past a meaningful part of their contemporary lives.
