Sb-1280, waste management: propane cylinders: reusable or refillable. Senator laird (d-santa cruz). Sponsored by cpsc. Existing law, the california integrated waste management act of 1989, establishes the department of resources recycling and recovery and requires the department to adopt rules and regulations, as necessary, to carry out the act. This bill would, on and after january 1, 2028, prohibit the sale or offer for sale of propane cylinders other than those propane cylinders that are reusable or refillable, as defined. The bill would require the department to adopt regulations to implement the provisions of this bill with an effective date of january 1, 2028.

Calrecycle grant-funded contracts with local jurisdictions. Cpsc contracted with numerous jurisdictions across the state as their primary service provider for projects funded by calrecycle hd grants. The purpose of these projects was to educate the public regarding reusable products that can be used as a replacement for single-use products - such as reusable 1lb propane cylinders and led rechargeable marine flares - and provide them with free reusable products. Each of these projects were a success in that they raised awareness of the costs associated with disposal of single-use products, the need to switch to reusables, and how the reusable products are better for our health, families, and communities.

Other private and public-funded contracts. Cpsc contracted with numerous jurisdictions and private organizations across the state and country as their primary service provider for projects related to the use, development of, recycling, reuse, and proper disposal of textiles. The purpose of these projects was to complete various pilot and research projects related to how textiles are used, reused, recycled, and disposed at the end of their lives. Each of these projects were a success in that they raised awareness of the costs associated with disposal of textiles, the need to change our approach to textile use, reuse, recycling, and disposal, and how approaching this focus topic differently can result in a better use of limited resources, improve our environment, and help our communities.
