Telemetered Water Monitoring Project: The Telemetered Water Monitoring project launched in June 2023. In collaboration with Environmental Science Associates, the Consortium conducted research and interviews with experts in telemetered water monitoring, resulting in a comprehensive report on lessons learned and best practices. The team also interviewed water leaders in California to develop recommendations for watersheds for the Telemetry Research Unit to pilot a telemetered water monitoring network. After selecting the pilot watershed, the team began outreach with interested parties in the watershed, to inform recommendations for the pilot project. The team held a virtual informational meeting and an in-person meeting to collect feedback about challenges, existing monitoring networks, and priorities in the area.

Expenses: $694K

Other Program Accomplishments: The Urban Water Working Group began development of an urban water use and supply dataset on the CNRA Open Data Portal focused on critical data for drought risk assessment and response. In collaboration with the Water Solutions Network, the Consortium provides a space for state and non-state partners to address LiDAR needs in California, with facilitation support from the Department of Water Resources. Through the free, virtual Data for Lunch series, the Consortium engages members and the public in exploring emerging datasets, technologies, and governance structures. Additionally, the Consortium continues to work with the AB1755 Partner Agency Team to advance open water data initiatives. The Consortium also welcomed a new Communications and Outreach Manager to bolster efforts to engage the water data community and promote equitable water solutions.
