See detail in attachment Achievements.pdfPreserve Natural Areas: As the pace of development increases, it is critical that natural resources are set aside for future use. Calvert Nature Society is positioned to be an advocate for public access to natural lands and waterways in the county. Our goal is to support and enhance these efforts in general throughout the county. Through our Land program, the Society will help protect natural spaces and local streams from stressors from development, climate change and invasive species. Because we will not, in most cases, be the owner or manager of these properties, we will work with partners to support land conservation and work to influence outcomes and set the stage for successful land protection initiatives.
See detail in attachment Achievements.pdfEngage An Active Volunteer Corps: The Society provides opportunities for the community to embrace stewardship of the countys public parklands that will benefit private lands as well. It is important to foster the environmental stewardship ethic in Calvert County. Our goal is to build a pipeline of volunteers for the parks, via Calvert Stewards and youth programs.
