Programs

2 programs

The captiva civic association annual program accomplishments include educational programs, public services, community informational presentations and forums, community-building activities, and wellness initiatives. Some examples are historical presentations, environmental and eco-science talks, community meetings concerning important local issues, workshops on medicare, memory impairment, and crime prevention, as well as special interest classes such as food and wine pairing, art exhibitions, and other arts performances. We also provide a venue for social gathering for community-building. In addition, we provide administrative office space for the captiva island historical society, the facility space for the captiva memorial library, and a residence for a lee county deputy sheriff and family. Our three largest programs are the art exhibitions (a series of four), wine and food pairing classes, and our community-building porch & patio series.

Expenses: $52K

The protect captiva legal fund is a fund created by the cca and cca foundation to solicit funds for a lawsuit against south seas island resort that goes against the captiva land development code. Members of the community and all across the country have been sending in money to help fight against the developers. These funds are restricted solely for legal fees for this cause.
