Grandparents are a group of people that span generations - usually comprising people forty years old and above. This means that grandparents are a highly diverse group with various complex needs. Sometimes grandparents who are primary caregivers report high levels of stress and negative consequences on their health due to neglecting their own medical needs when reassuming parenting roles. Grandparents can assume parenting roles due to many circumstances with their adult children, including death, illness, mental illness, substance use, and incarceration.
