Mission
1.Use state permits to rehabilitate injured reptiles and amphibians and house them for extended periods of time before returning them to their natural habitats.2.Develop and support education programs to enable the public to recognize animals in need of care.
Programs
2 programs
Multiple volunteers presented 55 education programs for 2316 children and 892 adults to schools, church and scout groups, public groups and libraries using our USDA permitted education animals. The only cost to present these progams is the upkeep of the animals used, and this cost is not separately tracked.
The annual spring Baby Shower is an open house event held at Saluda Shoals Park. The event includes animal displays and other booths to raise money for the needs of the shelter. This year we received approximately $1,210 of non-cash donations to support our mission. These items include blankets, heating pads, pee pads, paper towels and cleaning supplies. Saluda Shoals Park donates the use of the shelter used to host the event.
