The museum presents canal history in an interactive format to best enable guests to retain information presented regarding the history of the canal. The center is also used for many family outings and group meetings for service organizations which heightens community awareness of what is offered.
Programs offered throughout the year include "canal days- and "old fashioned christmas" which offer the opportunity to enjoy "old time" activities, including homemade food, period craftsman and art. These events generate significant interest from potential donors.
