The snap program (spay and neuter assistance program)is designed to help reduce the population of unwanted animals in jackson county. This program is set up as a low cost assistance program for jackson county residents who want to bring cats and dogs of all sizes and gender to help control the pet population. In the current fiscal year, chs spayed or neutered more than 800 owned pets. We also offered new services at the time of surgery, including vaccines, tests, and microchips.

The pet food pantry program is set up to provide pet food to jackson county residents who are having difficulty meeting the nutritional needs of their cat or dog due to a current financial burden. For any jackson county resident to be eligible for this program, they must qualify as low income, be a current participant in a state/federal assistance program, or be experiencing financial hardship due to their current economic situation. This program exists on donations from the community, and the pet food pantry program is intended to supplement an eligible resident's monthly supply of pet food, and not a sole source of their pet's nutritional needs. In the current fiscal year, chs distributed more than 15,000 pounds of cat and dog food to the jackson community.
