Mission

The mission of the case method institute is to ensure the highest quality education for america's high school students-and to fulfill the democratic promise of that education-by empowering teachers to harness the case method in their classrooms.

Programs

4 programs

Recruiting: cmi actively looks for ways to reach and partner with teachers interested in introducing the case method - and its case-based curriculum - into their high school classrooms. The institute also brings case discussions at times to other audiences (such as policymakers or members of the general public), who in turn often recommend the program to teachers in their networks.

Expenses: $415K

Program assessment: cmi conducts rigorous research and internal assessments to evaluate the effectiveness of its program, improve and refine all aspects of its work, and provide teachers with actionable findings from its research that have the potential to help strengthen case-based teaching in their classrooms.

Expenses: $102K

Professional development: cmi offers premier professional development workshops to teachers, introducing them to the case method and the program's case-based curriculum, and showing how both can be used most effectively in the classroom.

Expenses: $182K

Case development: cmi currently draws on cases from its history of american democracy curriculum for use in u.s. History, government, and civics courses, and it is working to broaden its case library over time.
