Programs
3 programs
Bridgeport child advocacy coalition (bcac) is the lead ageny for social -emotional learning within bridgeport public schools, conducts the parent leadership training institute, publishes the state of the child report, and promotes healthcare advocacy.
Streetsafe is a street-based, non-law enforcement program. It focuses on reducing youth group/gang and gun violence in the city. We work within six neighborhoods affected by poverty, substance misuse, crime, and blight. Our outreach workers grew up in bridgeport. They have first-hand experience with the insidious problems facing our youth today. These highly-trained individuals help interrupt conflict and the cycle of violence. Our workers provide mentorship to at-risk youth. Streetsafe's goal is to keep bridgeport's residents safe, allow our young people to thrive, and help our returning citizens
The juvenile justice is a statewide juvenile justice advocacy organization seeking to provide a continuum of supports for young people in, or at risk of entering the juvenile justice system. Ctjja has had major success in advocating for raising the age of jurisdiction in connecticut from 16 to 18 years old, developing a system of family support centers for young status offenders and passing a law to restrict the use of out of school suspensions for minor offenses. Ryasap also has a juvenile review board to divert first time offenders each year away from the juvenile justice system.
