Cfei - this is our first project grant that the foundation and our team on the ground in cuba are overseeing. The miami foundation gave over $347,000 to support the creation of a dried fruit export production platform. Funds are being disbursed over the 2024-2025 period to support a network of fruit growers, a newly created transportation/logistics cooperative, and a dried fruit production facility. Offshore legal and relevant industry expertise are also included in the budget. All components of the production chain are privately owned and managed. Funds are disbursed against detailed invoices, mostly to offshore vendors of equipment (vehicles, ovens, equipment, etc.).

Expenses: $23K

Varela is a $60,000 construction project to repair the roof at the varela building in havana where the cuba emprende program has its offices and classrooms. Donations earmarked for this program came from four existing donors. The funds are being disbursed in tranches (against detailed invoices) to an offshore architect/construction management company which has a long history of working with the catholic church.
