Mission
CPSC is a nonprofit organization established to provide education and training to mental health psychotherapy AMFTs trainees and interns associates who are preparing for CA state licensure. Under the supervision of licensed supervisors associates learn how to conduct psychotherapy with a diverse base of clients and how to build and manage their own private practice. Associates provide sliding-scale fees to better serve low-income clients and the community.

In 2024 AMFTS offered 3,570 tele-health sessions to clients. Tele-health sessions were conducted by telephone or online via Zoom or other video conferencing platforms. Because of the many benefits to clients - no travel flexible scheduling options cost savings - tele-health therapy has surpassed in-person therapy as the chosen way clients meet with therapists. AMFTs met in-person with clients for 1,239 sessions - almost one-third less than by tele-health.
0CPSC offered four facilitated and evaluated online professional development workshops for AMFTs. The workshops are designed to address specific practice needs the AMFTs may have: Focusing: Communicating with the felt sense; Couple Therapy:Basic training and introduction to Non-Violent Communication; Using Scaling to help with anxiety anger and depression; Being present with Shame: Learning to recognize it and calling it by name.
