Our program Hermana Flor is our women's program for dealing with gendered violence, adverse experiences and showcasing the strength and importance of women in our community. . We recognized the role of women in preserving our cultural knowledge and traditions into our Sanctuary Gardens through teaching dance and embroidery. In addition, we began to revitalize our indigenous languages such as Zapoteco and Mixteco, using our culture to empower these women in their process of healing. We facilitate conversations on healing from trauma and gendered violence , empowering our elders to teach and share their experiences with the younger generation. The Hermana Flor group is about 25 women and children. The children have been learning traditional dance and embroidery from the elders. Accomplishment in 2023: We have learned a total of 2 dances traditional dances which we do performances for the community. Flor de Pina and Flor Munidita. we started a second group for dance therapy, Baile Terapia, which is a mix of Zumba and Cumbia. This one is much faster paced and used as exercise and stress relief for the community. The art and cultural aspects have been really exposed in the broader community increasing diversity here. We presented public zumba classes at local events as well as encouraged the younger members to have differing lebvels of ballet folcorico, elementray students highschool and elders.

Our Program Know your Rights is our community empowerment and problem solving program. We hold community meeting to determine community needs and offer a space to develop solutions for the broader community. it is also how we develop new programs. We share community resources to the Latinx and Indigenous relatives from the south. We have given out 1200 covid tests as well as information in Spanish on the virus in 2022. Resources include how to access medical services, access to food pantries, and direction for community members who wish to develop trade skills. We gathered resources throughout Humboldt and translated them to Spanish. It is also the platform for the community to understand their rights as immigrants in the United States. We have good traffic on social media for upcoming community events. All together we probably reached and shared these resources to over 3000 families in 2022. Accomplishment in 2023: We have expanded this program to include youth Programming to provide resources on mental health, the importance of our culture and destigmatize topics among the youth. Its opening a new direction for the organization as a resource for families and community. Once the Youth program becomes self-sufficient, independent we will break it off into its own program.

Our newest program Seeds of Hope is our dedicated Youth program. Since we have started in 2024 this initiative has been a success. Forming a youth council, dedicating spaces for youth to share their mental health concerns regarding Youth suicide and Substance use prevention. Simultaneously we are promoting cultural practices, such as gardening and public speaking to reinforce their safety net and voice their concerns. Creating dedicated opportunities for Youth to voice their concerns at schools to the school administrators and propose solution to the policy makers and healthy activities to minimize negative influences in their lives. Youth are becoming the voice of their own needs. Our ability to advocate on their behalf to City County and State levels has increased and their needs and solutions are being heard.
