Chamber orchestra of new york is a premier ensemble that features a seasoned roster of our city's most flourishing musicians. The orchestra is internationally distinguished for championing unique repertoire that bridges the classical and modern traditions, including iconic film music, through premieres and world premiere recordings of rediscovered masterworks. Through all-embracing approaches with its distinct programs - from performances to educational outreach - the orchestra aims to cultivate a broader audience across generations for the future of classical music.

The orchestra accepted and processed applications for its new york conducting workshop (nycw) held at the dimenna center for classical music. This program includes the respighi prize in conducting. The winner of the conducting competition conducted a single work or movement at the carnegie concert that followed. There was a spring workshop this year.

Chamber orchestra of new york receives commissions and general orchestra-for-hire invitations. These programs further support engaging our brilliant professional musicians.

The orchestra accepted and processed applications for its respighi prize music competition for young composers, pianists, and soloists. The competition was established to encourage and offer a performance opportunity for young talented composers and soloists from all countries, through the inspiration of ottorino respighi's music. The competition is open to young composers, pianists, and soloists (instrumental and vocal) under 40 years of age, of all nationalities, currently enrolled in (or recent graduates of) music conservatory or college (including preparatory or post-certificate programs) from all over the world. The winners are selected from a jury panel of veteran artists in the field. Previous years have featured winners from mexico, russia, switzerland, france, usa, italy, germany, brazil, poland, austria, cuba, and israel. The 2024 winner who will be featured in the 2026/2027 season is pianist eden chen (usa) at carnegie hall.
