To conduct education, research, and clinical services in the context of community engagement to train health professionals, to promote wellness and provide care in under-served communities.

Research fundingin 2024, cdu secured $4,828,453 in nih research and training grants, supporting 316 publications from researchers. This funding facilitated studies aimed at advancing scientific knowledge and improving healthcare outcomes. The axis center received $4,351,410 in nih/nimhd funding (u54) in 2024. This funding resulted in 50 publications in 2024. The ucla-cdu-cedars-tli clinical translational science institute (ctsi), a partnership through the ctsa consortium (ul1), sponsored by ucla/nimhd, secured $3,071,255 per year for five years. As a member of the four-institution alliance, cdu helps drive scientific discoveries and clinical advancements. The ctsi supports an estimated 25 to 50 faculty in the four institutions. Research faculty recruitment cdu continues to expand its federally funded research portfolio with the appointment of a new associate professor in pediatrics. Her research awards, funded by nih-nigms, niaid, dhhs/samhsa, and uc regents-trdrp, support studies on health outcomes and totaled $2,681,439 over three years. Junior faculty developmentthe university continues to support new investigators. Current projects include those focused on cancer diagnostics and studies on the molecular basis of metastasis, as well as studies of metabolic diseases. Funding in 2024 included $125,000 from the aim-ahead program (one year) to advance artificial intelligence; $75,000 for a study of circulating exosomal ncrna signature for early detection of lung cancer; and $140,000 from the ctsi-kl2 award (one year) for studies on triple-negative breast cancer (tnbc).
Academic & institutional support: the university offers 24 academic programs organized into three colleges: 1) the college of science and health which features a master of public health, master of health science, physician assistant and biomedical sciences, one associate and five bachelor's degrees, and two certificate programs; 2) the college of medicine which is comprised of seven programs - the drew/ucla medical education program, continuing medical education program, four graduate medical education programs, and our new cdu medical education program, and 3) the mervyn m. Dymally school of nursing with two bachelor's, one master of science degree, two post-master's certificate programs, and a doctor of nursing practice program.
Encompasses funds allocated to support the university's general operations, student services, maintenance, and auxiliary enterprise expenditures. Additionally, expenditures included in this line relate to public support services ranging from early childhood development and education to primary health care and support services.
